Library Building Project Public Information Session

The New Glarus Library Board, Village Board and Shepherd of the Hills congregation are considering a purchase agreement for the parcel next to Candy Cane Park as a potential site of the new library building. Architects at Dimension-IV have drawn up a concept plan that includes expanding public green space, making the sledding hill public property and building a new community library.

All are welcome to stop by an “Open House” on Saturday, May 22nd, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Candy Cane Park.

The New Glarus Public Library is providing art supplies for community members to draw and paint maps of New Glarus. The project is for all ages and all skill levels.

The New Glarus Public Library invites you to map your 2020 experiences: where you went, how you stayed connected, and what has shifted in your life during the pandemic. You do not need to be an artist to participate.

As we come closer to achieving the dream of a new building, the library has developed a project to encourage people of all ages to make art for the new library.

Although 2020 has been a year of unpredictable and unrelenting challenges, the New Glarus Public Library Board of Trustees continues to forge ahead with plans for a new library building.

At this time, the Board is determined to build in 2021 and is diligently looking at ways to maximize the building with the funds currently available. Plans continue to evolve, and we will share details as they are confirmed.

New Glarus Library Campaign Receives $50,000 Matching Grant

The capital campaign for the new library in New Glarus received a matching grant for $50,000 titled ‘Love of Community’ from an anonymous donor. Any donations received until that amount is reached will be doubled.

The inspiration for the name of the matching grant, ‘Love of Community’, is based on research published in ‘Science Direct’ that indicates citizens have an increased sense of well-being in communities with public spaces, such as libraries.

New Glarus Library Campaign Meets Schlecht Family Foundation Challenge Grant

The New Glarus Library Campaign is delighted to announce that it met the $30,000 matching grant from the Schlecht Family Foundation by the December 31, 2019 deadline. The $60,000 raised will go towards the new library to be located on Durst Road on the west side of New Glarus. Thank you to all the generous donors who had their donations matched!
