During the month of August, the New Glarus Public Library will be displaying the Swiss Folk Art of Scherenschnitte created by Linda Schiesser.  The German word, Scherenschnitte, is derived from two words “scheren”, meaning scissors, and “schnitte”, meaning cut.  Linda uses a tiny scissors and a single sheet of black paper to cut a continuous design that often reflects the many aspects of her Swiss heritage.

Join us at the Prairie Haus Apartments Tuesday, August 29th at 6:00pm as Linda Schiesser hosts a talk on the Swiss art of Scherenschnitte and its history.  All who attend will have the opportunity to try their hand at their own paper cutting project.  Also, come and enjoy the Swiss and folk music of local singing group BKN!   Space is limited.  Stop into the library to see cuttings by Linda and sign up for this free event.
