Carnegie Medal Books

The Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and NonFiction were established in 2012 to recognize the best books for adults published in the previous year.  The award is supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and administered by the American Library Association.

The books on this list were written for adults, and are best suited to students in high school.  The content covers a wide range of topics and may contain language and ideas that are not suitable for your reader at this time.  We encourage you to use your discretion when choosing which books from this list to read.  All medal winners and finalists are eligible for Gold Medal Books.
