Registration is now open for the 2019 Summer Reading Program, "A Universe of Stories."  This program is open to all area children from birth through 12th grade.  Participants are divided into three categories, Listeners (birth through kindergarten), Readers (going into first through fifth grades), and Teens & Tweens (going into sixth grade and up).  Reading logs and a calendar of events are available at the library, or you may download and print from home.

Calendar of Events (requires legal-size paper)

"Listeners" reading logs  (preschool through entering kindergarten)

"Readers" reading logs  (entering 1st through 5th grades)

"Teens & Tweens" reading logs  (entering 6th grade and older)

How does it work?

The Summer Reading Program runs for 8 weeks, from June 10th through August 3rd.  An unlimited number of reading logs may be submitted during this time.  For each week that you visit the library, your child will earn a different weekly prize:

  • Week 1:  Dane County Fair Pass
  • Week 2:  Madison Mallards Ticket
  • Week 3:  Book to Donate & Book Sale Coupon
  • Week 4:  Culver's Scoop
  • Week 5:  Book to Keep
  • Week 6:  Free pan pizza from Pizza Hut
  • Week 7:  Passes to Eugster's and Schuster's Farms
  • Week 8:  Fine Forgiveness Card & Pass to the Milwaukee Public Museum

Each reading log also counts as an entry in the weekly t-shirt drawing, and a grand prize entry.  This year we are giving away three grand prizes:  An R2-D2 Robot, a Lego-compatible space station building kit, and a $50 Amazon gift card.  The grand prize drawings will be held on Monday, August 5th, and winners will be notified by phone.

Participation in the Summer Reading Program is always free, and children do not need a library card to participate.

Weekly Events

The library will be hosting many children's events during June and July.  These events will be held in the Village Hall Community Room unless otherwise noted.  These programs are free and open to the public, and children need not be registered in the Summer Reading Program to attend.

For toddlers and preschoolers, we offer weekly Music & Movement classes on Mondays @ 10:15 AM, and Story Time is held Fridays @ 10:15 AM.

Children in elementary and middle school are invited to attend our weekly Art Explorations classes, Thursdays @ 1:00 PM.  Due to the complexity of the projects, these events are not appropriate for children 6 and under.

We also have many all-ages events scheduled throughout the summer, including movie screenings, performers, and a Star Wars party!  Please visit our online calendar or follow our Facebook page for a full listing of summer events.
