Forged in Blood: How the Iron Brigade earned its metallic moniker

Monday, September 18, 2017 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
New Glarus Home Green Room

Presenter Eric Schlehlein is the author of Black Iron Mercy, a novel of the Civil War.  He joins us for his 40-minute, family friendly presentation "Forged in Blood: How the Iron Brigade Earned its Metallic Moniker."  He tells the story of more than three thousand Wisconsin boys who served in the Iron Brigade during the Civil War.  This brigade would suffer the highest casualties of any Union Brigade during the war.  (Local connection - New Glarus founder Fridolin Streiff was a survivor of the Black Iron Brigade.)  There will be time after the presentation to chat with the author and purchase books.

This presentation is sponsored by the New Glarus Historical Society and the New Glarus Public Library.  It will take place at the New Glarus Home Green Room at 600 2nd Ave.  This event is free and open to the public.
